    How the ebb works

    1. Measured, not guessed. Each track has a softness score from 0 to 100, worked out from the audio: how soft the attacks are, how often the loudness jumps, how warm the tone is and how slow the tempo is.
    2. Softest last. Sets play in rising softness, so your ears settle a little more with every track instead of being surprised by a bright one at the end.
    3. Low water. With the timer on, the last minute fades out slowly and the music stops. No alarm, no chime.

    Questions

What makes music relaxing for sleep?
Slow tempos, soft attacks, few sudden jumps in loudness and warm, low-brightness sound. Every track here was measured for those things, and each set is ordered so it gets softer as it goes, like a tide going out.
How do I use the tide timer?
Pick how long you want to listen (30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes) and press Start the ebb. The site builds a set that fills that time, softest track last, and fades the music out over the final minute at low water.
    Is this music free?
Yes. Every track is a Purrple Cat Self Release under CC BY 4.0, free to stream and download as MP3.
Can I use it in my videos or sleep streams?
Yes. Free to use with credit on all social media platforms (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitch, Facebook, X and more), and livestreams are fine. Neither the music nor remixes, samples or covers of it may be uploaded to music streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music or YouTube Music, because that causes false Content ID claims. Are there vocals?
No. Everything on this site is instrumental lofi.
    Who is Purrple Cat?
Purrple Cat is a solo lofi project that started in December 2018 with the album Up All Night: 500+ songs, 500M+ streams and 425K followers, mostly instrumental and with no face reveal.
